"The `news' available today from newspapers, television and radio is more often spin than substance. This is amply demonstrated with the ongoing conflict in Iraq and the various machinations which lead to it. Some topics are rarely covered in the news whilst some lines of questioning are actively avoided by some news organisations. There is a need now more than ever for honest journalism, with emphasis on facts rather than spin. This is something you won't get from your newsagent or your television. I therefore started this site to provide a selection of news articles which cut through the spin and propaganda and tell the situation like it is, not how the Governments or corporations would like these items to be presented. There are already some websites which provide alternative views of current affairs. This site seeks to primarily focus on the goings-on in UK politics, business, finance and society whilst also covering other important issues from around the world. I will also be writing regular pieces which ask the awkward questions that no other organisation is asking. To some, these questions would be forbidden territory, politically incorrect - thoughtcrimes. But still these questions should be asked and these issues raised. On this site, this will be done regularly. Where I see government
manipulation or dissembling I will call it as such." About the editor: Simon Aronowitz graduated from Leeds University with a degree in economics and politics, though he feels he learned very little at university other than the conclusions that the establishment wanted him to reach; namely that globalisation is good and the only way to improve developing economies, that constant European integration should be accepted and, finally that financial systems are the best way to dictate the way the world works. Having worked in several industries including IT and finance, the editor decided to return to one of his first and longest urges - to be a journalist. The work put into producing this site is currently unpaid and unsponsored. It is hoped that you will appreciate the work here and return regularly to it as a reliable dissection of the news.
